THE STORY BEHIND THE PRINT...
Each of my ‘Little Chinese Windows’ depicts a curated vignette of objects arranged as a still life image with image details layered over the top.
In this instance a beautiful Jingdezhen turquoise blue teapot and tea cup from the ‘Famille Rose’ colour palette sits on some silk found at the Shanghai fabric market. In the background, used as a backdrop, is a delicate silk scarf. Given to me by a friend I met whilst living in Shanghai many years ago, it was painted by her very talented Grandfather. Added to the scene are photos taken of white blossoms, peonies and a little feathered butterfly bought in the Hong Kong bird & flower market.
